Islamic philosophy and mysticism program focuses on philosophical and mystical issues in the Islamic intellectual tradition. Philosophy asks vital questions about the world and how we understand it. What is reality and how do we know if something is real? How do we know what we know – if we can ever know anything at all? What makes Islamic philosophy different from Greek philosophy?  Can we refer to Islamic philosophy as being “Islamic”, because it flourished and expanded by Muslim scholars in the Islamic world? Who are the key figures of Islamic philosophy and what are the main issues and topics discussed?

Our BA program offers students the opportunity to explore these questions and get familiar with the core issues in Islamic philosophy and mysticism, mainly focusing on transcendental philosophy.
